Robert Sellers is U-M’s first chief diversity officer.
The University of Michigan Board of Regents approved the appointment of Robert M. Sellers as the university’s first-ever chief diversity officer.
Sellers, who has served as the vice provost for equity, inclusion and academic affairs for the past two years, was recommended for the position by U-M President Mark Schlissel and Provost Martha Pollack.
In his role as chief diversity officer, Sellers will be responsible for overseeing the university’s five-year strategic plan for diversity, equity and inclusion, and serving as a principal adviser to Schlissel as a member of the university’s executive leadership team. He also will continue in his role as vice provost for equity and inclusion and as the Charles D. Moody Collegiate Professor of Psychology and Education.
